Greers Ferry Lake came into existence in 1963 with the newly completed Greers Ferry Dam .  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed construction of the dam spanning the Little Red River,  forming a lake 50 miles long, covering a 40,000-acre masterpiece that pleases water enthusiasts of all types.  It creates a 343 mile pristine shoreline and deep crystal clear waters that provide a wonderful opportunity for enjoying boating, water skiing, scuba diving, sailing, and other water sports. Our river tributaries produce some of the largest walleye in the world.  Elevation of the lake at top flood control pool is 487 feet above mean sea level.  The lake ranks as one of the most pollution-free in the nation.   Greers Ferry Lake is nestled in the foothills of the Ozarks in North Central Arkansas approximately 60 miles north of Little Rock.  The lake is surrounded by an abundance of rock outcropping, trees, and wildlife making it a leading tourist destination.  Greers Ferry Lake and it’s tail water, the Little Red River has been a popular destination for anglers worldwide visiting Arkansas. In our case, “World-Class Fishing” is fact, not hype. We can back it up with three world-record game fish. Greers Ferry Lake holds world records for Walleye (22 lb 11oz) and Hybrid Striped Bass (27 lb 5 oz). The Little Red River tail water, which feeds into Greers Ferry Lake, holds the current world-record for German Brown Trout (40 lb 4 oz).  Trophy-sized fish are common in our waters. Savvy guides put you “on the fish” in the lake and the river.

The Annual Heber Springs Fireworks Extravaganza held on Greers Ferry Lake during the Independence Day holiday and coordinated by the Heber Springs Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest in the state and attracts thousands of onlookers, from both land and on water.
